Some time after 1889, Helen Cadbury, a school girl in Birmingham came to fath in Jesus Christ and desired to share this with school mates. Later, with friends, they formed themselves into a little organisation called "The Pocket Testament League". In 1908, after marriage to the American evangelistic song-leader, Charles Alexander, the Pocket Testament League was revived by the couple and launched through evangelistic campaigns. The next year, the small band held similar campaigns in Australia where Charles had previously ministered.
In the 1st World War over nine thousand soldiers and sailors had signed the TPTL pledge to carry, read daily, and share the Bible with others. By 1936, there were 5 million members in TPTL.
TPTL (AUS) is an international, evangelical Christian organisation dedicated to helping Christians share their faith through provision of gospels of John. We do this through encouraging and equipping Christians to read the Word of God daily, carry the Word of God with them wherever they go, and then share the Word of God with others. Together we can help others know God.
