Students sharing their faith in Jesus with other students – that's the heart of AFES, or the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students. We're a network of 60+ Christian student groups on unis all around Australia. Wherever you're at with faith, AFES groups are a great place to ask your biggest and boldest questions, read the Bible, make life-long friends, and grow in Christian maturity.

AFES groups have been gathering on university campuses for over 90 years. Beginning with Dr Howard Guinness and others in separate universities, the group formally came together in 1936 as Inter Varsity Fellowship. IVF was a founding member in 1947 of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. In 1973 IVF was renamed to AFES for consistency. Founded by students for students, these local Christian groups continue to meet regularly to investigate the Bible, share the good news of Jesus, and support each other in their faith.

This is achieved through various programs:

• National Training Event - a conference where university students from across Australia gather to be transformed by the gospel, trained in the gospel, and sent with the gospel.
• International Students (Focus) - Welcome to Australia! Moving overseas for university is a huge change. Whether you feel excited, overwhelmed, or a bit of both, AFES groups are a great place to find a welcoming Christian community here in Australia.
• Horizons - a missions discipleship program for AFES students and apprentices seeking to discern their suitability for cross-cultural ministry.
• Uncover - The best way to meet Jesus is by reading about him for yourself in one of the eye-witness accounts of his life.
• Meet Jesus - At every major university across Australia there are Christians who get together in a range of ways to do just that.
• Apprenticeships - an opportunity to train others through modelling godly character, convictions, and competency, particularly through apprenticeships.
