OAC reaches out to the unchurched around us with the message of Jesus and Edifies, Encourages, and Equips the church to do the same!

From our historic roots on Sydney's streets more than 130 years ago, to the streets, schools, universities, caravan parks, and more of today. Despite the cultural tide away from Christian things, there are still multitudes who are open to hear the message when it is explained well.

In 1892 an English Barrister, E.P. Field, preached to lunch-hour crowds in Martin Place, Sydney, Australia, and formed the NSW Prayer Band to support this growing ministry. In 1922, W Bradley changed the name to 'Open Air Campaigners'. Gospel wagons were used to take the gospel message to people throughout NSW. In the 1940s, OAC worked among the armed services, and extended to Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and overseas, firstly to New Zealand. During this period, the typical sketch board painting method of the time became a primary method of evangelism. By the 1980s, OAC was well established in North America, Britain, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. Then established branches in the former Communist Block, Latin America and India. OAC’s ministry also commenced in Western Australia in 1988.
