Glen Park Gospel Church >> Easter >> 2005 Good Friday in the Park

Our Good Friday banner

Well wrapped up against a cold wind on a gray Good Friday morning, about 75 people gathered in the North Eltham Reserve. At least the sun came out occasionally, and there was no more than a hint of rain. All the same they gathered to remember the passion and death of Jesus Christ almost two thousand years ago. The group included people from the community who would not ordinarily have come to the Church, yet came to share in the music and the message.

Gordon, the leader of the Glen Park Gospel Church, introduced our fellowship to the gathered people.

Instrumental by Kevin Spicer on keyboard supported Ron Ellis and Dale Philip who provided tenor and baritone solo and duet items and all were of outstanding quality and clarity. These folk are of the Diamond Valley Baptist music team. There was also plenty of opportunity for the audience to stretch their vocal cords.

Church folk, Betty Eaton (pictured) and Jenny Anderson read scripture telling the story of Easter. Evangelist Bryan Greenwood followed with the message providing logical evidence for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it means for us today. At the conclusion five people sought information about receiving Jesus Christ as their own Saviour.

The Service concluded on time with a hot-cross bun and a welcome hot cuppa.

Good Friday in the Park has been an annual event for the last eight years, and for all but one of them, the sun has shined on this proclamation of the Gospel. At the Glen Park Gospel Church we see this as one of the ways that we are able to share the good news of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the blessing that can come into the lives of those who place their trust in Him.
